Did you know I have an email list? It’s been quite a while since I’ve talked about it and sent something to my list. But there’s a story there – I lost everything. So, here I am explaining what happened and announcing that I’ve finally set it back up.
What Happened To The Old List?
I don’t know what happened. I honestly don’t. When I went on a blogging hiatus a while ago, I fell out of touch with my email list at the same time. (Sorry about that, by the way, if you were on that list. Life happened.)
I finally decided that it was time I bring it back. The thing was, something went screwy, and I lost everything.
When I say everything, I mean I lost my templates, the entire list I’ve built, and more.
I have no idea what happened. There was a certain feature I wanted, and I needed to upgrade. I thought I’d test it out, and when I tried upgrading, something went wrong, and everything disappeared.
I’m assuming it was a wacky glitch. I hope it didn’t happen to anyone else, but when I Googled the issue, I couldn’t find anyone having this issue. I could have gotten in touch with support, I’m sure. But honestly… I never wanted to upgrade with that mailing list host in the first place.
So, I Took The Opportunity To Switch Email List Providers
The feature I wanted to use was always part of the free version, and I had access to it. But they had updated at some point and decided to put that feature behind a paywall. Instead of grandfathering old accounts into it, I needed to upgrade. That’s why I wasn’t thrilled about upgrading.
But the thing was, I already had built a good chunk of my email list. So, I thought it’d be easier to give in and upgrade.
When everything was lost, instead of fighting it, I took it as a sign that this email provider was no longer right for me.
It sucks that I had to start completely over, but you know what? I’ve built a brand new website, so it fits. Might as well have a brand new email list with even more features I had than before for way less the cost.
The Email List Is Back
Long story short, the email list is officially back. I took my time setting it back up again because I had researched many providers before starting over, but it’s here.
