In book two, it seems as though things pick up right where they left off from book one. There is a little background at the beginning of the book explaining some of the events that took place in the first book. As someone who didn’t read book one, this was helpful.
I found the overall premise to be interesting, especially the meaning behind the title. I enjoy when book titles actually play a role within the story. Overall, the story keeps you turning the pages.
I had a little trouble with the characters at times. Sometimes I really liked them and other times I didn’t. Ruby is a strong protagonist and she was great, though I felt as though there wasn’t too much growth for her by the end of the book, despite all she and her family went through.
Overall, this is a well-written and interesting vampire story.
